Choosing Your Vocation

When I was in high school, if you had asked me what I wanted to do with my life, I would have said I wanted to be a pastor. At the time, I knew little about ministry. I simply understood that I had a passion for the church and there was nothing else that appealed to me. I didn’t have a robust knowledge of how to go about discovering my purpose in life. I hadn’t read a book or taken a test. I just knew what I enjoyed.

All of us are searching for purpose in life. Books that claim to have the answer fly off the shelves and top the bestseller lists. I am certain it is a subject you have thought about often and you have probably changed your mind several times in the process.

Other words have been used to describe the same idea. Maybe you prefer to think of it as your “calling”. Another word that gets at this idea has entered my own vocabulary more recently – “vocation”.

Deidox has put together a collection of videos which tell the story of how one person has chosen to put their faith to practice. Each story is unique. Allyssa talks about her blindness and the effect it has had upon her faith. Dawn talks about raising her children. Robert chose compassion over his career and speaks honestly about the cost involved.

Each individual story connects to the audience in different ways without sounding pretentious. Check ’em out. Maybe they’ll inspire you to choose your vocation.
